Tell me about your EPU story—how did you get here?

In 2003 my daughter Hannah was born with Down syndrome.  She began receiving Early Intervention Services here at EPU in early 2004. In 2006 when she was getting ready to graduate, I was looking for a job and the Family Resource Center at EPU was hiring.  I began working here in the spring of 2006.

Tell me about your family?

I have been married for almost 15 years to my wonderful husband David.  We have 2 amazing children.  Our daughter Hannah is 13 and our son Joshua is 11.

What’s your favorite part about EPU?

Since I started at EPU as a parent, I know the kind of support and care EPU’s staff gives to families.  That’s my favorite part of EPU. It is such an amazing gift they give to families.  The love and acceptance of their children, as well as loving and accepting the parents where they are at is amazing.

What’s in the cards for your future?

I honestly have no idea what’s in the cards.  I truly love my job and what we do here.  I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What has EPU taught you?

I need to be patient and compassionate with people, value them where they are and remember that their journey is theirs and I’m just along for the ride.
